President Murmu holds talks in angola, marks diplomatic milestones
President Murmu visits Angola, the first Indian head of state to do so, holds bilateral talks, addresses Parliament, and celebrates 50 years of Angola’s independence.
Newsroom, November 09, 2025: President Droupadi Murmu, on the first leg of her two-nation tour, will hold bilateral talks with Angolan President João Lourenço today. She is the first Indian head of state to visit Angola. Upon arrival, she was welcomed at the airport by Angola’s Foreign Minister.
During her visit, President Murmu will address the Angolan Parliament and meet members of the Indian diaspora. She will also attend the 50th anniversary celebrations of Angola’s independence on November 11. The trip is significant as India and Angola mark 40 years of diplomatic ties this year.
After Angola, President Murmu will proceed to Botswana, the second stop of her tour.
