Nara Lokesh pushes for higher education curriculum revamp
Andhra HRD minister calls for full overhaul to align with AI, industry needs; aims to skill 10 lakh youth annually.
Amaravati, November 6, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh has demanded a thorough redesign of the state's higher education framework to integrate artificial intelligence, data science, and emerging technologies, ensuring that graduates meet the modern demands of the job market.
Speaking at a higher education conclave, Lokesh criticised outdated syllabi for lagging behind global standards, vowing to train 10 lakh young people each year through revamped courses that blend theory with hands-on industry exposure. The initiative targets universities and colleges to establish innovation hubs, with partnerships from tech giants like Google and Microsoft to embed practical skills from the outset.
Lokesh emphasised bridging the gap between academia and employment, where 40% of graduates remain jobless due to mismatched competencies. The overhaul includes mandatory AI modules and internships, aiming for a 50% rise in placement rates by 2027.
