Newsroom, November 07 2025: An explosion rocked Jakarta's iconic Istiqlal Mosque during Friday prayers, injuring 54 worshippers and sending smoke billowing through Southeast Asia's largest place of worship. The blast, triggered by a gas cylinder in the kitchen area, happened around noon, causing panic among the hundreds gathered for the weekly congregation. Emergency teams rushed in to contain the fire, but smoke inhalation affected many, with 12 people in critical condition and rushed to nearby hospitals.

No lives were lost, and the mosque was cleared for safety, but the incident disrupted prayers and left the community shaken. Police and fire officials are probing the cause, pointing to a cooking gas leak as the likely culprit, with no signs of foul play. President Prabowo Subianto visited the site and injured victims, vowing full support and an investigation to prevent repeats.
