Amaravati, November 07, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh government celebrated one of its rising talents by awarding Rs 2.5 crore in cash, a Group-I government position, and a 1,000 square yard house site in Kadapa to Shree Charani, the 19-year-old spinner whose pivotal role in India's Women's World Cup victory lit up the nation's sports scene.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu hailed her as a "beacon of inspiration" for young athletes, emphasising how her triumph from the state's coastal academies embodies the drive for excellence in women's cricket.

Charani, hailing from a modest fishing family in Kadapa, turned heads with her leg-spin wizardry, claiming key wickets that sealed the final. The recognition, announced during a special ceremony, includes immediate placement in a state department role to support her transition from pitch to profession, alongside the housing plot to secure her family's future.

Officials noted the package not only rewards her grit but also fuels investment in grassroots training across Andhra.
