Budget 2026 to fuse five-year plans for 2047 growth vision
Annual fiscal document to embed ministry roadmaps, aligning funds with long-term goals in infra and tech.
Newsroom, October 22, 2025:
India's upcoming Budget 2026 is poised to transcend its usual yearly scope by incorporating five-year action outlines from key ministries, creating a unified roadmap to propel the Viksit Bharat initiative toward a developed economy by 2047.
This shift, driven by NITI Aayog and the finance ministry, links funding decisions to broader priorities in areas like infrastructure, energy, and digital expansion, ensuring steady progress through coordinated reforms and investments.
Early discussions, led by NITI's Rajiv Gauba, have covered sectors including roads, petroleum, telecom, science, and pharmaceuticals, with sessions wrapping up by late October to feed into the February presentation.
Officials see this as a way to boost accountability and resource use, turning the budget into a true engine for medium-term targets that touch everything from healthcare access to innovation hubs.
