Andhra aims for 51 lakh tonnes paddy in Kharif 2025-26
State sets procurement goal with subsidies, pulses mission; land conversion repeal safeguards farmland.
Amaravati, October 19, 2025: Andhra Pradesh set a procurement target of 51 lakh tonnes for the 2025-26 Kharif paddy crop, bolstering farmers with enhanced subsidies and the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission to cut imports and stabilize incomes. The PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana will distribute subsidized groundnut seeds for Rabi, while the Agricultural Land Conversion Repeal Bill, 2025, bars farmland diversion to urban use, protecting 1.2 crore acres.
These efforts address pest threats and water woes, projecting a 15% yield rise through drip irrigation in 50,000 hectares. Nationally, it aligns with food security goals; in Andhra Pradesh, coastal districts like Prakasam lead the charge for sustainable harvests.
