Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar has called for Central government support to develop a green energy corridor, aiming to ensure uninterrupted power supply from Rayalaseema to North Andhra districts. Speaking at the States’ Energy Ministers’ meeting in Lucknow on March 29, 2025, hosted by Union Minister of State for Power Shripad Yesso Naik, Ravi Kumar highlighted the need for a robust energy framework to support the state’s growth, emphasizing sustainable solutions to meet rising demand.

Ravi Kumar also sought the allocation of 5 lakh agricultural pumpsets under the PM KUSUM scheme to bolster rural energy access, alongside requesting timely implementation of the fuel adjustment charge policy and clearances for amendments to the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission Act. He pointed out the financial strain on DISCOMs, burdened with a ₹50,000 crore debt due to mismanagement by the previous YSRCP government, urging the Centre to assist in their revival.

The minister’s requests reflect Andhra Pradesh’s push towards a greener, more resilient energy future, with Ravi Kumar stressing the importance of Central support to reduce inter-state transmission charges and establish battery storage projects. This initiative could pave the way for sustainable growth, ensuring reliable power for both rural and urban areas across the state.
