India's 36-member contingent, spearheaded by Tanvi Patri and Bornil Changmai, kicked off the Badminton Asia U-17 & U-15 Championships in Chengdu with a flurry of victories across categories. In the U-15 boys' singles, SL Dhakshan Sugumaran staged a comeback to edge China's Lyu Ke Ting 18-21, 21-14, 21-13, securing a spot in the next round.
The U-17 girls' doubles pair of G. Jaswanthi and R. Sai Keerthana also triumphed, downing their opponents in straight sets to advance confidently.
The strong showing highlights India's rising junior talent pool, with the squad aiming for medals in the October 21-26 event.
