Air India Newark flight aborts journey due to technical snag

Newsroom, October 22, 2025:
An Air India flight from Mumbai to Newark, identified as AI191, executed a safe precautionary return to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport shortly after departure on Tuesday, prompted by a potential technical fault.
The aircraft touched down without incident, and all on board remained unharmed, according to airline officials.
The plane has been sidelined for thorough maintenance checks, leading to the cancellation of both the outbound AI191 and the inbound AI144 from Newark to Mumbai.
Air India arranged overnight hotel stays for affected Mumbai passengers and rebooked them on the next available flights, including those operated by partner carriers.
Newark travellers received prompt notifications and alternative options to minimise disruption.
