Amaravati, March 27, 2026: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana has outlined a major push to develop Nellore as a green city.

He announced the planting of more than 50,000 saplings across the city and the allocation of ₹850 crore to the Nellore Municipal Corporation for comprehensive urban upgrades modeled on Chandigarh and Singapore.

The plan includes completing work on 44 of 47 proposed parks, with recent additions like Balijapalem Park. An adventure park and water sports park are also in the works.

Around 15 government schools will receive upgrades to international standards, underground drainage projects will finish soon to make the city mosquito-free, and free community spaces will help residents host events without cost.
