Five youths held in vijayawada terror links case

Five youths from different states were arrested in Vijayawada for alleged links to banned terror groups, police said on Friday. A minor was also taken into custody in the multi-state probe.

Amaravati, March 27, 2026: Intelligence and NTR Commissionerate police in Vijayawada acted on specific leads and registered a case on March 23 against 13 persons under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and other laws.

The latest arrests bring the total to several individuals with suspected ties to ISIS and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).

The five Lucky Ahmed from Delhi, Zeeshan from Rajasthan, Mir Asif Ali from West Bengal, and Sharuk Khan and Shaik Fiaz Ur Rehman from Maharashtra, were produced before a Vijayawada court. They received judicial remand and will be sent to Rajahmundry Central Prison.

The minor will appear before the Juvenile Justice Board soon. Earlier arrests included three local youths from Vijayawada and others from Telangana, Karnataka, and Bihar.
