A high-level team from the University of Illinois visited JNTU Anantapur on March 26 to advance talks on a long-term academic partnership. The two sides explored student exchange, twinning programmes and joint work in cutting-edge technologies to boost employability.

Amaravati, March 26, 2026: A delegation led by University of Illinois Chancellor Janet Gooch held detailed discussions with officials of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA) on Thursday.

The meeting focused on building a multidimensional partnership that includes academic exchanges, curriculum design for industry needs, and collaboration in emerging technologies.

JNTUA Vice-Chancellor H. Sudarsana Rao stressed the value of such international ties for students and faculty.

He noted that under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision, Andhra Pradesh is growing into a hub for advanced technologies, including quantum computing.

A joint declaration was signed, and both sides agreed to form a steering committee to finalise an MoU soon. The partnership aims to give Andhra students global exposure while strengthening research links with a top American university.
