Amaravati, March 26, 2026: Sri Sathya Sai district is stepping up measures to safeguard migratory birds at Veerapuram village in Chilamathur mandal.

District Collector Shyam Prasad inspected the waterbody and directed officials to ensure enough food and water for the birds that fly long distances from places like Siberia.

A caretaker will rescue fallen chicks, while the administration works with animal welfare groups for treatment and feeding.

Desilting of supply channels will help the tank hold water longer. Improved roads to nearby spots such as Puttaparthi and Lepakshi aim to boost eco-tourism, supported by an existing watch tower for visitors.
