Amaravati, March 26, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has approved steps to expand the use of piped natural gas across the state.

Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar said the government wants to provide uninterrupted supply through PNG and has set a target of 10 lakh new connections, with one lakh to be given in the coming month.

Focus will fall on cities including Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nellore and Kakinada, where households using LPG cylinders will be encouraged to shift. PNG will also reach major temples.

To support the change, the Deepam subsidy scheme will extend to PNG users with financial help every two months, plus a ₹2,400 direct benefit transfer for those who switch. Pipeline approvals will be cleared in 24 hours.

The state sees PNG as more convenient for apartments and industries while offering environmental gains.
