Amaravati, March 26, 2026: A horrific road accident unfolded around 5:44 a.m. near Rayavaram in Markapuram district when a private travel bus from Telangana rammed into a tipper lorry.

The impact caused the bus to hit the lorry’s fuel tank, triggering a sudden blast and rapid fire that trapped many passengers inside the air-conditioned vehicle.

Passengers described chaotic scenes of panic. One survivor, a mason, used his elbow and a knife to smash windows and push others out before jumping to safety.

Another worker punched glass repeatedly to help his family escape, though his wife fractured her leg and their young daughter sustained a minor injury. A father pushed his wife out but went back for their baby and did not survive. Many victims were migrant labourers heading for work.
