Amaravati, March 26, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, resolved on Thursday to request the Union government to notify Amaravati as the sole capital city.

It seeks insertion of a sub-section in the 2014 Reorganisation Act, in line with the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s Full Bench order of March 3, 2022.

The Cabinet also decided to withdraw pending Special Leave Petitions in the Supreme Court and implement the High Court judgment fully.

It reiterated support for farmers who gave land under the Land Pooling Scheme, calling them partners in building the capital. Development works in Amaravati continue as per the master plan, with a target of completion in three years.
