Amaravati, March 25, 2026: Rajamahendravaram MP D. Purandeswari met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on Wednesday and pressed for alternative road access for farmers in East Godavari district.

She highlighted that the proposed boundary wall along the Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam railway line, between km 564/42 and km 568/24, risks cutting off access to fields in Pasivedala village of Kovvur mandal and Gowripalli of Chagallu mandal.

The MP explained that many small and marginal farmers depend on these paths for daily agricultural work and moving their produce. Without new routes, their livelihood could face serious disruption.

She also called for a fresh field-level survey, noting local claims that parts of the planned wall may fall on private farmland.
