Doctors back hyderabad paediatrician over legal notice

Doctors' groups across India have rallied behind a Hyderabad paediatrician after she received a legal notice from two pharma-linked firms. They call the move an attempt to silence her public health advocacy on child nutrition products.

Newsroom, March 24, 2026: Multiple medical associations have voiced strong support for Dr. Sivaranjani Santosh, a practising paediatrician in Hyderabad.

The doctor, known for her eight-year campaign that prompted FSSAI to tighten rules on Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) labelling, now faces a notice from Johnson & Johnson Health Equity and Kenvue over her comments on related electrolyte drinks.

Associations including the Federation of All India Medical Associations, Telangana Senior Resident Doctors Association, and Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association have condemned the notice.

They argue it seeks to intimidate a doctor raising evidence-based concerns for patient safety, especially among children. They have demanded its immediate withdrawal and warned of coordinated action if it stands.
