Amaravati, March 24, 2026: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu chaired a high-level review of the energy department and set a clear target: bring the power purchase cost down to ₹4 per unit.

He stressed that financial health of power utilities must come from better management and reforms, not from higher bills for people.

Naidu asked officials to speed up efficiency measures, clear debts and expand renewable energy. Andhra Pradesh already ranks high in solar power.

The government now aims to lead the country by combining solar, wind, pumped storage and battery systems. Plans include more rooftop solar under national schemes, solar pumps for farmers, an Energy University for research and skills, and support for energy startups.
