Prakasam district police raided multiple illegal betting sites, arresting dozens and seizing lakhs in cash as part of a statewide push against gambling harms.

Amaravati, March 23, 2026: Prakasam district police have ramped up efforts to curb illegal gambling across the region.

In a recent raid in Anakarlapudi village of Kondapi mandal, officers arrested seven individuals playing rummy, seizing seven motorcycles, seven mobile phones, and Rs 46,900 in cash.

From February 1 to March 22, authorities raided 41 gambling camps, detaining 189 people and confiscating Rs 4.82 lakh.

Separate actions targeted 10 rooster fight venues (84 arrests, Rs 2.10 lakh seized), a cricket betting network (four arrests, Rs 24 lakh recovered along with devices), and five matka betting operations (10 arrests, Rs 15,760 seized).

Police also counselled about 1,500 youths and parents on betting risks, while binding over 98 repeat offenders to prevent future involvement.
