Amaravati, March 23, 2026: Civil Supplies officials raided Kakinada Port and seized five lorries loaded with fortified PDS rice meant for public distribution.

The 140 metric tonnes, valued at ₹65 lakh, came from various mills and traders in the region, including consignments from Golden Agros in Gadala and Gurudatta Rice.

Samples are under lab testing, with cases filed against traders, lorry owners, and drivers.

This crackdown follows ongoing statewide efforts to curb PDS rice smuggling for export, aided by traceability of fortified kernels after the Centre paused mandatory mixing.

Earlier actions, including high-profile ship inspections, have disrupted diversions but highlight persistent supply chain leaks from ration shops to middlemen and mills.
