Amaravati, March 23, 2026: Ongole Municipal Corporation has stepped up its campaign to recover around Rs 41 crore in outstanding dues for the current financial year.

This includes Rs 23.26 crore from property tax, Rs 10.79 crore from vacant land tax, Rs 8 crore from water tax, and Rs 6 crore from other sources.

Commissioner Dr K Venkateswara Rao directed revenue teams to focus on chronic defaulters through special meetings and public appeals. Authorities offer a 50% interest waiver for one-time full payments under a state scheme.

Enforcement has begun, with water connections disconnected in areas like Srinagar Colony.

Officials warn that shortfalls could disrupt summer water supply, delay projects, and halt tanker services to outer zones, where operators remain unpaid for months.
