Amaravati, March 23:
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today laid the foundation stone for ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India’s (AMNS India) integrated greenfield steel plant at Nakkapalli in Anakapalli district.
The ceremony, attended by Union Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy, Minister of State Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, marks a landmark industrial push for the state.
The project spans over 5,400 acres and includes a captive port for better logistics. Total investment stands at nearly ₹1.5 lakh crore, with Phase 1 committing ₹70,000 crore to build initial capacity toward a final 17.8 million tonnes per annum.
It is set to create around one lakh direct and indirect jobs, plus 6,000 more from the port component. As India’s largest greenfield steel initiative, the plant aims for Green Steel certification and will boost flat steel production to meet rising domestic demand while cutting imports.
