Amaravati, March 23, 2026: Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy assured local fisherfolk and farmers in SPSR Nellore district of firm government support during a review meeting.

He addressed long-standing concerns over high-powered boats from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry intruding into Andhra waters, plundering resources, and the mysterious release of seized vessels.

The state plans a special task force with round-the-clock sea patrols involving Marine Police, Forest, Fisheries, and Fire departments until April 14, just before the two-month fishing ban begins on April 15.

A state-level team will visit the district soon to gather inputs and prepare a report for the Central government, seeking a lasting three-state solution.

On the farming front, Reddy inspected fields hit by recent heavy rains in Ananthasagaram mandal and other areas, where over 1,400 farmers lost crops across hundreds of hectares. Authorities will submit compensation estimates promptly.
