Foundation stone laid for ₹1.36 lakh crore AMNS steel plant in anakapalli

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu led the groundbreaking for ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India's massive greenfield steel facility in Anakapalli district on March 23, marking one of India's largest industrial investments expected to create thousands of jobs.

Amaravati, March 23, 2026: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, joined by industrialist Lakshmi Niwas Mittal, Aditya Mittal, Union Ministers, and state leaders, laid the foundation stone for ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AMNS) India's integrated steel plant at Rajayyapeta in Nakkapalli mandal, Anakapalli district.

The project carries an investment of ₹1.36 lakh crore across over 5,000 acres and targets a total capacity of 17.8 million tonnes per annum. The first phase aims for 7.3 MTPA output by December 2028, with expansion planned thereafter.

This greenfield development positions northern Andhra Pradesh as a major steel hub, driving direct and indirect employment, infrastructure growth, and related sectors like education, healthcare, and tourism.
