Amaravati, March 23, 2026: Farmers from various organisations gathered at Prakasam Bhavan in Ongole, Prakasam district, to mark Martyrs’ Day with a dharna in front of the Collector office.

Led by Samyukta Kisan Morcha, they condemned the BJP-led Central government’s policies, including a 17% export tariff on domestic crops while allowing zero-tariff imports of commercial crops from countries like the US.

Leaders argued these measures endanger farmers’ lives, particularly groundnut cultivators in Andhra Pradesh, and criticised the state coalition government for failing to push back effectively. The protest called for stronger state support and more intense resistance to reverse the policies.
