Amaravati, March 23, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) has directed officials to probe and penalize purified water supplying plants found illegally tapping grid power despite disconnections over massive unpaid dues.

The move came after a resident of Jammalamadugu in Kadapa district raised the issue during a live phone-in programme with APSPDCL's Chairman and Managing Director.

Callers highlighted cases where disconnected plants continued operations by unauthorized means, bypassing bills worth lakhs of rupees. APSPDCL stressed accountability, warning that any staff complicity or inaction will face consequences.

The problem affects reliable supply in Rayalaseema areas like Kadapa, where grievances from dozens of consumers surfaced in the session.
