Amaravati, March 21, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned ₹59.85 crore for five Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants to advance sustainable waste management and renewable energy.

New facilities will come up in Rajamahendravaram, Nellore, Guntur, and Ongole, each processing 25 tonnes of municipal solid waste daily. An existing plant in Vijayawada will also get revived and upgraded. The combined capacity reaches 125 tonnes per day.

It now draws funding from central and state governments, urban local bodies, and private developers. Private partners will cover about 36% of costs and recover investments through CBG sales over 20 years.
