Amaravati, March 19, 2026: Untimely rains, accompanied by strong winds and hail, struck several districts of Andhra Pradesh on March 18, damaging standing crops in 89 villages across 16 mandals.

Preliminary reports show paddy affected in 384 hectares, maize in 630 hectares, black gram in around 200 hectares, and horticulture crops including banana, papaya, mango, and orange in 267 hectares.

The total impact spans Krishna, Nellore, Sri Sathya Sai, NTR, Anantapur, and Parvathipuram-Manyam districts, hitting 2,043 farmers hard.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation and ordered detailed damage assessments while urging officials to share real-time weather alerts.
