Amaravati, March 19, 2026: Agriculture authorities in Andhra Pradesh have called on farmers to remain vigilant following India Meteorological Department warnings of unseasonal rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds up to 40 kmph, and possible hail over the next three to four days.

A trough over the Bay of Bengal is driving widespread activity, with heavier impacts expected in Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra, and North Coastal districts. Crops such as banana, mango, chilli, and maize stand at risk if harvest delays occur.

Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu directed officials to assess damage quickly and record losses in affected fields.

Farmers are advised to harvest ripe produce promptly, safeguard equipment, and avoid open fields during storms to minimize lightning hazards. The state promises full assistance to those impacted, underscoring rapid response to protect livelihoods.
