Vizag, March 19, 2026: A three-day workshop called ‘Peel to Paper’ concluded at Studio Arthauz in PM Palem, Visakhapatnam, teaching participants to convert banana stem fibre often discarded after harvest into strong, archival handmade paper.
Artists, art students, and enthusiasts chopped stems, boiled fibres, pounded them into pulp, refined it, formed sheets on mesh frames, pressed, and dried them naturally.
On the final day, they experimented with ink, graphite, and paint through drawing, folding, and collage on the textured sheets.
Led by experts including Vanama Prasanth from Andhra University’s Department of Fine Arts, the programme emphasized the material’s durability once properly processed.
