Amaravati, March 18, 2026: Ongole Municipal Corporation is advancing urban vendor support with a new Smart Street Vending Market near the Summer Storage Tank in Mamidipalem.

The ₹4.50 crore project features 25 containers housing 100 shops (four per container), complete with staircases and rooftop seating areas for customer appeal.

Jointly funded by municipal resources (₹2.90 crore) and AP MEPMA (₹1.60 crore), the initiative mirrors successful models like Nellore's Mypadu Gate market.

It prioritizes local women self-help groups and street food vendors, offering organised spaces in a pleasant setting to draw more customers and improve incomes. Officials expect completion and launch within the next four months.
