Man gets 20 years RI in ongole POCSO case

A 31-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in Prakasam district. The POCSO court also ordered ₹3 lakh compensation to the victim.

Amaravati, March 17, 2026: A POCSO court in Ongole sentenced Mothukuri alias Kola Pitchaiah, 31, of Pusalapadu village in Bestavaripeta mandal, Prakasam district (formerly part of Markapuram area), to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a ₹10,000 fine.

The crime occurred on April 14, 2024, when the accused lured the minor girl into his home while she returned from a friend's house and sexually assaulted her.

Judge K Sailaja delivered the verdict on Monday, directing ₹3 lakh compensation to the victim via the District Legal Services Authority.

Prakasam SP V Harshavardhan Raju called the judgment a strong warning to offenders, urging swift reporting of such crimes to ensure no perpetrator escapes justice.
