Amaravati, March 17: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed LPG availability, bookings, and deliveries in a meeting at the RTGS Centre on Monday.

Officials from the Civil Supplies Department, along with representatives from ONGC, Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and Indian Oil, confirmed the state holds 17,209 metric tonnes of stock, handled through 1,154 agencies.

Daily bookings averaged 2.81 lakh cylinders recently, with deliveries at 2.92 lakh showing steady management.

Concerns arose from misinformation on social media, which spiked bookings and stretched delivery times from 1.5 to 2.5 days, pressuring systems temporarily.

Naidu directed swift action: restore normal 1.5-day timelines, implement OTP-based deliveries across suppliers to curb misuse and black marketing, and prioritize uninterrupted supply to hospitals, schools, temples, hostels, and community kitchens like Anna Canteens.

He urged exploring alternatives such as induction stoves, piped gas expansion with ONGC and GAIL, and coordination with hotel associations to ease demand.
