Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced on Monday that the Andhra Pradesh government will immediately release Rs 45 crore in pending honorarium dues for imams and muezzins.

This comes after Rs 180 crore has already been distributed, with imams receiving Rs 5,000 monthly and muezzins Rs 10,000.

The announcement was made at a state-level Iftar gathering in Vijayawada, where Naidu extended Ramadan greetings and highlighted the TDP-led NDA coalition's respect for minority sentiments.
