Amaravati, March 16, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y.S. Sharmila has sharply criticised the VB G Ram-G scheme (Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission-Gramin), calling it a move that primarily benefits contractors rather than providing genuine job security to villagers.

She alleges the revamped framework replacing key aspects of the longstanding Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) shifts financial burdens to states, centralises decisions, extends work hours, and diverts funds away from direct worker payments.
