Tragedy struck a family in Andhra Pradesh's Annamayya district as four members, including three children, died from carbon monoxide poisoning after a motorcycle engine ran overnight inside their home.

Amaravati, March 16, 2026:
In a heartbreaking incident in Punganur town of Annamayya district, four family members lost their lives after inhaling toxic exhaust fumes from a motorcycle left running inside their house on Tyagaraju Street.

The victims a grandfather in his 70s named Ramachandraiah, his 15-year-old grandson Karthik, and twin granddaughters Charitha and Chandana, both around 8 died in their sleep from asphyxiation.

The bike, recently serviced, was kept idling overnight on advice from a mechanic, with poor ventilation allowing carbon monoxide to build up.

The son Murali and his wife Revathi, sleeping upstairs, survived unharmed; their elder daughter was away at the time.
