Amaravati, March 16: A fire started in the stationery section of the ticket-issuing office at Nellore railway station on Monday while staff handled passenger bookings.
The blaze was spotted early through smoke, prompting immediate closure of the counter and alert to railway officials.
Firefighters from a tender extinguished the flames swiftly, limiting damage to stationery items reduced to ashes; ticket rolls remained safe and intact.
South Central Railway's Vijayawada division confirmed the incident caused a one-hour disruption, but operations restarted normally. An investigation continues to determine the cause, with no casualties or major infrastructure loss reported.
