Amaravati, March 16, 2026: Twenty-nine members of Chenchu and Yanadi tribal families from V.Y Colony in Kurichedu mandal, Prakasam district, endured ten years of bonded labour at a coal kiln near Kalwakurthy road in Telkapally mandal, Nagarkurnool district, Telangana.

The six families men, women, and children, faced forced work under harsh conditions before their rescue.

Non-profits alerted Telangana's district revenue officials, triggering a joint raid by local tahsildar, police, labour officers, and child protection staff. The workers requested immediate release and repatriation.

Authorities registered a case against the kiln owner and arranged transport to Ongole, where the Prakasam district collector met them and coordinated aid through joint collector and child development services for full rehabilitation.
