Amaravati, March 15, 2026: Telugu Desam Party leader and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar to step back from all party work while authorities investigate his alleged involvement in a narcotics incident.

The directive follows a late-night raid by Telangana's anti-narcotics team at a farmhouse in Moinabad near Hyderabad, where police detained several people, including the MP.

Tests reportedly showed drug consumption by multiple attendees, including Putta Mahesh.

TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao issued a formal notice seeking a written explanation from the MP within five days. The party stresses its firm stand against drug use and promises action based on the probe findings.
