Amaravati, March 16, 2026: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to unveil a 58-foot bronze statue of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu at Shakhamuru Park in the capital region.

The "Statue of Sacrifice" stands as a tribute to the freedom fighter whose 58-day fast-unto-death in 1952 demanded a separate state for Telugu-speaking people, directly leading to the creation of Andhra State.

Built with 26 tonnes of bronze and 42 tonnes of iron on 6.8 acres, the memorial developed by the Potti Sriramulu Memorial Trust cost ₹150 crore and was completed in six months.
