Vijayawada, March 15, 2026: BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav accused opposition parties of trying to obstruct the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to score political points.

Speaking at a state-level BJP workshop in Vijayawada on Sunday, he defended the process as a routine, transparent exercise to reconcile voter lists, in place since 2002 even under the Congress-led UPA government.

Madhav highlighted that the Election Commission has completed SIR in four states and will roll it out in 22 more from April 1, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressing concerns in Parliament.

He urged BJP workers to support the upcoming SIR in Andhra Pradesh, insisting any attempts to block it would fail. Opposition leaders, including those from Congress and others, have questioned the timing and intent of the nationwide revision, fearing voter disenfranchisement.
