Amaravati, March 14, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed M. Sunil Kumar Naik, currently Inspector General of Fire Services in Bihar, to present himself before the investigating officer on March 23.

Naik, named as accused in the case, faces allegations tied to a 2021 incident where former Narsapuram MP and current Deputy Speaker K. Raghurama Krishna Raju claimed he endured custodial torture during his detention by CID officials under the previous state government.

Naik, who served as DIG in Andhra Pradesh CID on deputation at the time, had sought anticipatory bail.

The court granted him interim protection from arrest earlier but stressed cooperation with the probe. It also allowed him to attend to his ailing mother in Patna. His bail plea is scheduled for further hearing on March 18.
