Amaravati, March 14, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav held a key review in Vijayawada to strengthen summer preparedness as daytime temperatures rise across the state.

Officials outlined steps to equip every Primary Health Centre and Urban PHC for initial heatstroke care, with quick transfers to larger hospitals via 108 ambulances if needed. The state has stocked over 17 million ORS sachets and ample IV fluids to handle dehydration cases.

Heatstroke incidents have increased in recent years from 833 in 2023 to 5,154 in 2025 largely due to better reporting, with Eluru district recording the highest last year.

Training for medical staff, public campaigns on symptoms, and inter-departmental coordination form core parts of the plan.

The AWARE digital platform will deliver 4-5 day advance warnings on temperature severity, helping target vulnerable zones based on 10-year data under the Summer Action Plan-2026, led by District Collectors.
