Amaravati, March 14, 2026: Forest Department teams in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district released nearly 300 Olive Ridley turtle hatchlings into the sea at Gacchakayalapora on Saturday.

District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar joined the event, highlighting ongoing protection of about 50,000 eggs collected from key breeding sites including Nela Revu, Vasala Tippa, S. Yanam, and Sacramento Island.

Special monitoring teams used in-situ methods to safeguard nests from predators and threats during this nesting period.
