Amaravati, March 13, 2026: Justice Lisa Gill assumed charge as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in a ceremony at the First Court Hall. Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur administered the oath.

A senior judge from the Punjab and Haryana High Court since 2014, she practiced law there from 1990 after earning her LL.B. and LL.M. from Panjab University.

The transfer follows a new Supreme Court Collegium policy for advance moves of incoming chief justices, allowing time to adapt before Justice Thakur retires in April. This paves the way for Justice Gill to make history as the first woman Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
