Amaravati, March 13, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh High Court granted partial relief to Bihar cadre senior IPS officer M Sunil Kumar Naik in the ongoing investigation into the alleged custodial torture of Assembly Deputy Speaker K Raghurama Krishnam Raju (often referred to as RRR) during the previous YSRCP regime in 2021.

The court modified an earlier directive requiring Naik's weekly appearances before the investigating officer in Guntur.

It permitted him to travel to Patna to attend to his ailing mother's medical needs and instructed him to appear before the officer on March 23 instead.

The next hearing on his anticipatory bail plea was deferred to March 18. Naik, who served as DIG in the Andhra Pradesh CID at the time of the incident, has cooperated with questioning in recent weeks following court orders.
