Amaravati, March 13, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the state government, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Pollution Control Board, Forest, and Irrigation departments to file detailed responses on waste management failures at Tirumala.

A Public Interest Litigation filed by Tirupati resident Chinnepalli Kiran Kumar points to roughly 86,000 metric tonnes of legacy waste dumped over 20 years at Kakula Konda near temple mutts.

Daily generation includes about 30 metric tonnes of wet waste and 25 metric tonnes of dry waste, disposed without proper processing, causing forest damage and pollution risks in this sacred hill area that draws millions of pilgrims annually.
