Andhra celebrates Women's Day milestone in Amaravati

Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu marks International Women's Day in Amaravati, highlighting achievement of one lakh women entrepreneurs in a year. He lays foundations for training facilities and signs 36 MoUs to boost self-help groups toward five lakh women entrepreneurs.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu addressed women from self-help groups at the Parade Grounds during International Women's Day celebrations. He noted the state surpassed its goal by turning over one lakh women into entrepreneurs through Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in the past year, with more than 1.12 lakh now leading businesses. Naidu felicitated five standout women entrepreneurs and handed over a mega cheque of Rs 10,100 crore in subsidised loans to benefit nearly seven lakh women.

The event featured the launch of the ‘Swayam AP’ brand to market products from self-help groups, alongside foundation stone laying for facilities offering training, marketing, and technology support to DWACRA women. The government inked 36 agreements with institutions via SERP and MEPMA to drive skill development and economic independence. Naidu set an ambitious target of five lakh women entrepreneurs soon, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leader in women's economic empowerment and forward-looking growth in rural and urban livelihoods.
