Sunil naik questioned in RRR custodial torture case

Amaravati, March 06, 2026: A Bihar cadre IPS officer faced intensive police questioning in Guntur over his alleged role in the 2021 custodial torture of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Speaker K Raghu Rama Krishnam Raju.

Former CID DIG M Sunil Kumar Naik appeared at the CCS police station for over seven hours on Thursday, as directed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Investigators probed his repeated visits to the Guntur CID regional office on the night Raju then Narsapuram MP, was held and allegedly assaulted during the previous YSRCP regime.

Naik, named as accused in the case, had earlier secured interim protection from arrest but was ordered to cooperate fully from March 5 to 9.
